Chief Officers and Firefighters from the Phoenixville Fire Department, Westwood Fire Company and West Grove Fire Company represented the Chester County delegation.
This event was hosted by the Congressional Fire Services Institute that aims to educate members of Congress about the needs and challenges of our nation’s fire and emergency services to help them understand how the federal government can support the needs of our local first responders.
Some of the topics discussed, with all of the PA Congressional Representatives and/or their staff members, included increased funding for FEMA Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) and Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) programs and extending Medicare ambulance add-on payments.
The Pennsylvania Career Fire Chiefs Association, Firefighter's Association State of Pennsylvania - FASP, Pennsylvania Fire & Emergency Services Institute and Pennsylvania Professional Firefighters Association were all represented during this important legislative advocacy event.
A special recognition goes out to CCFCA Life Member Redman Flegal for his efforts in coordinating the 12th Annual Breakfast on the Hill that occurred in conjunction with a busy week of legislative activities. |
